Graham
loves Dr. Seuss (especially The
Sneetches), so his mom hired Diane to
do a Dr. Seuss show.
When Diane arrived, her "magic" Dr. Seuss hat
floated over the kids' heads, until it landed on the Birthday
Boy. The hat told Diane Grahams name, and that he
was 85 years old! (Then the hat whispered that it was
joking - Graham was actually 6.)
Diane led the kids in a silly sideways walk to the stairs.
The kids sat down and Diane recited and acted out The
Sneetches (using different voices for different
characters). During the story, Grahams mom showed
the kids pictures from the book.
After the kids followed Diane, (using a new silly walk),
to a different part of the house, she led everyone in
story-songs. Hands enthusiastically clapped. Words happily
echoed. As usual, the adults loved the entertainment even
more than the kids.
More stories followed ("Happy
Birthday To You" and "Horton
Hatches the Egg"). The kids acted out
the motions to other echo songs.
Then Diane refereed the kids "Snowball
Fight" (substituting wadded up newspapers
for snowballs). Next the 2 teams raced to see which could
stuff the most snowballs back into their respective garbage
bag.Leaving the room neat and tidy!
After Diane calmed the kids with "The
Peanut Butter Friendship Song," she directed
them to look at
Grahams mom for further directions. Quietly gathering
her things, Diane disappeared.
Reviews from recent performance:
Thanks again, for making the kids time special. As
you said, the kids and parents
both enjoyed you.
I popped in a couple of times and the kids and parents
seemed really focused on your stories. I heard the Lorax
and Sneeches. But did you do Horton hears a Who? Thats
my favorite!
We were in no shortage of cute kids at the conference
this year. I felt bad I didn't take more photos.
You do an incredible job and
we all truly appreciated it!
Thanks again,
Dawn
Thank you again, Diane. Graham
had a fabulous time, and so did his friends.
Cheers!
